Surveillance Site Coordinator – Lae

The Burnet Institute is an internationally recognised and duly registered medical research and public health agency. The NGO operation combines research activities with practical action through the design and implementation of public health and development programs. The Institute has headquarters in Melbourne and several international offices, including Port Moresby and Kokopo in PNG.

World-class laboratory and field-based research is integrated into multidisciplinary programs aimed at the prevention, detection and treatment of diseases of global significance. This unique approach allows the Institute to make a tangible and sustainable impact on health in both developed and developing countries.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the following position based in Lae, Morobe Province:

Surveillance Site Coordinator – Lae (12 - 15 month contract)
 
This role will report to the Fleming Fund Country Grant Team Leader and be supported by the AMR and One Health Advisor working closely with key stakeholders especially NAQIA , and Angau Hospital CEO of the PHA. During the project this role will also require providing thematic reports to the Microbiology Thematic Lead and Animal Health Thematic Lead.
Job Requirements:

To be successful in this role you must meet the following essential skills and experience criteria:
 
  • Completion of Bachelor in Agriculture majoring Animal Science/food science or other relevant qualification that includes disease surveillance, laboratory quality management,
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and managing multisector projects (animal and human health and environment
  • Experience in intensive agriculture sector especially poultry and feed industry, medical laboratory, and/or animal health thematic areas
