Company Description:

The Directorate for Social Change & Mental Health Services was established by an act of Parliament, the Mental Health Act (2015). It was created to oversee the provision of Psychiatric and Mental Health Services in Papua New Guinea. Its core vision is to implement the Mental Health Policy, the National Alcohol Policy and the Traditional Medicine Policy. The establishment of the Social Change & Mental Health Services Directorate is the Government of Papua New Guinea’s response as a reform to addressing the increasing burden of mental health issues in our country. The development of the Directorate’s Corporate Plan 2021 – 2026 brings together the need to establish specialised mental health care services as well as developing ongoing programs and instilling best practices in addressing the occurrence of mental health related issues at the community level.
